Lead Free Statement

In January 2003, the European Union passed the "Restriction on Use of Hazardous Substances" Directive 2002/95/EC, (RoHS). This Directive, which came into force on 1st July 2006, bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (CR6+), polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

There are, however, two categories that are currently exempt;

• Medical Devices (except implants)
• Monitoring and Control Instruments (including machines and fixed systems or products for the intended use in fixed industrial applications)

During 2004, Mantracourt carried out a detailed self assessment and analysis of our product range and determined that we are currently exempt from the Directive. However, it is Mantracourt's policy to comply with the directive within a time frame that suits our business and our customers' needs.

To achieve this, Mantracourt is taking a twofold approach by:

• Eliminating non-compliant components and materials from new designs.
• Migrating to compliant components and materials on existing product ranges, as and when alternatives become available and stock levels permit.

Mantracourt will also monitor current and future legislation to ensure continuing compliance.
