ASCO, an organisation with global expertise in oil and gas materials and equipment management, wanted to monitor crane loads. They have situated their cranes in their supply bases located around the world.
A large display was necessary for operators to read at a distance on a crane arm. Straightaway, they encountered issues as one-way wireless solutions often have a limited battery life. Specifically, workers need to physically switch on the remote sensors for the entire shift, rather than whenever the sensor is required. In addition, they often have to bring the sensors down from the cranes to recharge them when not in use.
