A weigh platform weighs items being loaded into a truck. Workers first stack items onto the weigh platform and watch the displayed weight until they reach a limit or have stacked all items. The system then prints a ticket in duplicate, giving the truck driver and the loading company a written record of load weight and time and date.
A vehicle-testing organisation, the Australian Automotive Research Centre (AARC), approached Applied Measurement Australia to help renovate and update a tilt table. This is used to test vehicle stability by tilting to an angle of 45º. The driver positions the wheels onto weigh pads on the platform. Using four hydraulic jacks, the team tilts the table and monitors the load on the weigh pads until it approaches zero. To clarify, this means the vehicle is near its tipping point. The team then records and analyses the platform angle.
